Our History

Established in 1932, we are the oldest society of its kind in Australia. We have over 6,500 members throughout the world and are incorporated under Australia's Corporations Law as a non-profit company, limited by guarantee.

Our principal object is the advancement of genealogical education. This is reflected in our activity programme and in the scale of our collections. Our income is tax exempt and donations towards our collections are tax deductible.

Our affairs are managed by our Executive Officer, under the direction of our Council, as named above.
