THE LIBRARY IS TEMPORARILY CLOSED TO VISITORS.
COVID-19 restrictions currently apply when visiting the Library and Archives
Currently the Library will be open: Tuesday, Thursday and the 1st & 3rd Saturday of the month with sessions from 10-12.30pm and 1pm-3.30pm. The Library will close at 3.30pm.
In accordance with the NSW Health checklist for libraries, you must provide your details for the purposes of contact tracing. This information will be deleted after 28 days. On entry to the Library, you will scan our QR code with your ServiceNSW app and your temperature will be taken. We have hand sanitiser throughout the Library and encourage you to clean your hands regularly whilst in the Library. Masks are recommended in the Library, except when a physical distance of 1.5 metres can't be ensured we then require masks to be worn. So for instance when you are consulting with a volunteer both the volunteer and the member should be wearing a mask.
Social distancing rules still apply and the kitchen will not be available to members.
We appreciate your patience as we work under health guidelines.
We have introduced an online booking system for computers, film readers, fiche readers and reading tables at our Library at 2/379 Kent Street Sydney NSW 2000. This allows us to manage our capacity and undertake a full clean between each session. The kitchen will not be available to members.
It is essential to book a session to attend the Library (Level 2, 379 Kent Street, Sydney). You can email, phone 02 9299 5151 (during Library hours)or make an online booking here.
Our Library is at 2/379 Kent Street Sydney. This is on the western side of Kent Street between King & Market Streets, and slightly closer to Town Hall than Wynyard railway station. The nearest commercial car park is a few doors along at 383 Kent Street and it offers reasonable weekend and early-bird rates, especially if pre-booked. There is a cycle way along this part of Kent Street and street parking is extremely limited.
All mail should be sent to 120 Kent Street Millers Point as there is no postal delivery to 2/379 Kent Street.
Our Archives and library stack are at Richmond Villa, 120 Kent Street, Millers Point. This is at the northern (The Rocks) end of Kent Street just past the approaches to the Harbour Bridge and adjacent to Observatory Hill. Wynyard Station (train and bus) is a 10 minute walk and ferries are 15 minutes away at Circular Quay or Barangaroo Wharf. There is metered street parking outside the building. Information on how to visit the archive please click here.
