Counties to be presented at this meeting will be Cambridgeshire and Shropshire.

We are excited to advise that Paul Milner (professional genealogist with over 35 years experience and world-renowned presenter) will be giving us a talk on English Apprenticeship, Guild and Freeman Records. You will learn what an apprenticeship was for our ancestors, what the rules and responsibilities were for all parties involved. See how they progressed from apprentice, to journeyman, to master, possibly leading to becoming a member of a guild, and freeman of a city. Understand the differences between apprenticeships arranged by the parish and by the family, and what that means in searching for records. Learn how and where to search for records, online and in archives. Case studies will illustrate the variety of records and why all record sources need to be examined. The focus will be on English resources, but the research process will apply to Wales.  A detailed handout will be provided for all attendees.
