The SAG offices, Archives and Library in Sydney are currently closed under the NSW Health COVID-19 lockdown with all staff working from home.
Visiting the Archives
Due to the current covid-19 lockdown in Sydney the SAG archives is not taking requests. We apologise for the inconvenience. As soon as restrictions ease we will resume our usual service.
Our Archives and Library Stack are at Richmond Villa, 120 Kent Street, Millers Point. This is at the northern (The Rocks) end of Kent Street just past the approaches to the Harbour Bridge and adjacent to Observatory Hill. Wynyard Station (train and bus) is a 10 minute walk and ferries are 15 minutes away at Circular Quay or Barangaroo Wharf. There is metered street parking outside the building. Appointments are required to view items and these are normally available on Wednesdays and Thursdays between 10am - 4pm.
Richmond Villa at 120 Kent Street is an historic three-storey property (originally built 1849) and both the seminar room and bathrooms are only accessible via stairs. There is no lift. However, the Archives and Library Stack material can be accessed on the ground floor, and wheelchair access to this floor can be arranged. If you require special assistance, please telephone in advance and speak to our staff, who will be happy to assist you.
