Make a research request |
Our volunteer Research Officers can undertake research for non-members. An initial fee of $40 is required in advance through the online shop. If your request requires additional research a quote will be provided. You should clearly set out your research request in an email or letter and also tell us what you have already tried so that we don’t spend time repeating work you have done yourself. We need, as a minimum, the following information: Your full nameYour location Your research request - be precise and note what you have already tried We will only undertake research within our own collections. If you require research to be done at a library or archive outside of the SAG we will refer you to a list of professional genealogists who have completed the Society’s Diploma course and who are available for private commissions. That list can be found here. We will not seek out to trace details of living people for you and this could include people born up to 100 years ago. There are websites and resources online that can help to guide you through sources to find and contact living relatives or those close to them. It is important to keep top of mind that contact with relatives can be a sensitive matter, and should be handled with much care, consideration, respect for the privacy of all parties involved.
