We run an extensive program of lectures, workshops, tours and group meetings which are open to everyone, though members are prioritised for attendance and receive discounts on tickets.

3. ACCESS OUR MANUSCRIPT AND ARCHIVE COLLECTION
Known also as the MIDAS collection, within it you will find unpublished materials from Australia and overseas, such as:
The significance of the 65 000 item collection lies in the volume of unique material in a single collection, the broad range of record types and the fact that the majority of the materials have known provenance.
4. ENGAGE EXPERT RESEARCH SUPPORT SERVICES
Quick look-up requests and library support
Our library volunteers are there to help you, especially during current times where your safety is our priority. You now have the option of sending a research request via email or letter, including your enquiry and the source you intend on researching from. A volunteer research officer will then complete the research request and respond. We offer 3 hours of free research help per year to members who reside outside the Sydney Metropolitan area (not available to student members).
5. BUILD RESOURCES FROM OUR BOOKSHOP
Membership includes quarterly issues of our Descent magazine.
The SAG online shop is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We offer a wide range of books and other resources for family historians. We curate our bookshop to ensure you’re constantly provided with relevant and useful information for your genealogical journey.

Anyone can attend our research and software groups, but members enjoy a discounted price. You do not need to 'join' a group - you just book for their events when you want to attend.
