Make a donationThe Society is a registered charity and tax deductible donations can be made at any time, either online or by contacting our office. Leave A BequestA bequest is an effective and practical way for you to make an enduring gift to support the Society’s work and to ensure that your family history research survives beyond your own lifetime. It can include a sum of money, your research papers, or both. A list of our current benefactors is available from this link. Our Bequest BrochureHelp Us by VolunteeringThe SAG simply couldn't exist without its team of dedicated volunteers. Nearly everyone you meet in the library, giving lectures, indexing records and helping at events will be a volunteer. Becoming part of our volunteer team is a great way to make new friends and to share with others your passion for family history. We're always looking for more help in the library and the archives, with tasks ranging from digitizing, cataloguing and indexing; and helping with education activities. Sometimes there are projects which can be undertaken from home too. You don't have to be an experienced researcher to join the volunteer ranks as you can learn on the job, but if you’d like to help others with their research in the library at 379 Kent Street you do need to know your way around the collection and catalogues and have a good understanding of the basics of both Australian and overseas research. Computer skills are an advantage for many of our volunteer roles, but not essential for all. Appropriate training and instruction will be provided. If you'd like to learn more about becoming a volunteer please speak to the staff next time you come in or contact us. It is also important to note that volunteers must be financial members at the Society for insurance purposes. |
