Theme: Significant Family Events

Through AI-generated imagery, participants are encouraged to depict pivotal moments, transformative experiences, and the enduring legacy of family connections across generations.

Timeline:

Submissions Close: April 30th, 2024, 11.59PM Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST)

Winners Announced: June 22nd 2024 as part of the AI Day being hosted by Society of Australian Genealogists

Submission Process:

  • Participants must submit their entries via the designated submission form.
  • Each submission must include: the participant's name, email address, title of image, AI tool used and 100 word description.

Disqualification:

  • Entries that violate any of the rules or guidelines will be disqualified.
  • Plagiarised or stolen content will result in immediate disqualification and may lead to further consequences.

Organizer's Discretion:

  • The organisers reserve the right to disqualify any entry deemed inappropriate or in violation of the rules.
  • Decisions made by the judging panel are final and not subject to appeal.

Prizes:

  • 1x $100 AUD + 1 year membership to the Society of Australian Genealogists
  • Selected entries, including the winner will be published in the society journal, Descent.

Rules and Guidelines:

Eligibility:

  • The competition is open to individuals aged 18 and above.
  • Entrants do not need to be current members of the society.
  • Participants must have access to AI image generation tools and software.
  • Both amateur and professional artists are welcome to participate.

Submission Guidelines:

  • Each participant may submit one AI-generated image
  • Images must be original and created specifically for this competition.
  • Submissions must be in digital format (JPEG, PNG, JPG, WEBP etc.) with a maximum file size of 3MB.
  • Images may be either in portrait, square or landscape format but of a suitable resolution to enable them to be printed.
  • Participants must provide a brief description (up to 100 words) for each image, explaining its relevance to the theme, techniques used, key prompt words etc.
  • The AI tool(s) used to create the image must also be included.
  • An appropriate title of 100 characters maximum must also be included.

Content Guidelines:

  • Images should focus on portraying significant family events in a creative and visually compelling manner.
  • All submitted content must be appropriate for a general audience. Any explicit or offensive material will be disqualified.

AI Usage:

  • Participants are required to disclose the AI tools or algorithms used in generating their images.
  • Use of pre-existing images or templates not generated by AI are prohibited. Participants must ensure that the images submitted are entirely AI-generated.

Ownership and Rights:

  • By submitting their entries, participants grant the organisers non-exclusive rights to display, reproduce, and distribute their images for promotional purposes related to the competition.
  • Participants retain full ownership and copyright of their submissions.

Judging Criteria:

  • Originality and creativity in interpreting the theme.
  • Technical skill in AI image generation including effective manipulation of AI tools and associated prompting.
  • Emotional impact and storytelling.
  • Overall aesthetic appeal.
