The NSW Supreme Court celebrated its 200th anniversary on 15 May 2024.

Many of our ancestors will have had contact with this institution in one way or another over the past 200 years.

Join SAG Education Manager Vanessa Cassin as she discusses the story of Chief Justice Francis Forbes and Governor Ralph Darling with Sally Layson, Justine Hanks and Chris Merritt from the Rule of Law Education Centre.

This Law Week come along and hear how  the clash between military man, Darling and Chief Justice Forbes together with the establishment of the Supreme Court of New South Wales shaped Australia today with a free press and independent judiciary.

The Rule of Law Education Centre has recently published a book for high school aged children to educate them about this story.
