Family History Connect | Getting the Most Out of FamilySearch: Uncovering Tools and Techniques for Better Results

FamilySearch is a free and incredibly rich resource for family historians and knowing how to navigate its many search options can make all the difference. In this session we’ll take a tour through the various ways to search for records on FamilySearch including how to get the best results from the main search function, use filters effectively, and dig deeper with tools like the Catalog, Images, and the Family Tree. We'll also explore what is means for the SAG Library to be an 'affiliate library' and how we can help members.

Whether you're new to the site or have used it for years, you should be able to pick up something new. The presentation will include live demonstrations and practical examples, followed by time for questions and discussion at the end.

This session will be facilitated by SAG Volunteer, Yvonne Masters.

About Yvonne:

Yvonne has a background in education, both as a teacher, particularly of English and History, and as a university lecturer in teacher education. She has been researching her own and her husband’s family histories for over 40 years and, now retired, genealogy is her passion, making her question how she ever found time to work! She has completed the UTAS Diploma of Family History, SAG’s Certificate of Genealogical Research and also the Diploma of Family Historical Studies. Yvonne is a co-facilitator of the AI and Tech Special Interest Group, and a member of the Diploma and Certificate Committee.

This is a members only event that will take place via Zoom.

Bookings are essential for this session.
