Do you have ancestors in Canada or the USA? Come and join us as we research our ancestors in this collaborative and friendly research group.

This meeting is a joint SAG and GSV meeting, with a special guest speaker, Thomas Nelson, from FamilySearch. Thomas Nelson is a Content Strategist for FamilySearch in the Pacific Area and has been employed by FamilySearch for eleven years. Prior to working for FamilySearch, Thomas was a professional genealogist for fifteen years.

In the USA, many of the most important records are spread out among 3,200 counties in the USA and governed by the laws of 50 different states. In his talk, Thomas will discuss the challenges of learning and accessing county records with a focus on the tools, resources, and organizations that can help people find success in finding their families in the records.

In the second half of the meeting, there will be state presentations on Illinois and Massachusetts.

There will also be time to discuss research problems so bring your brick walls and questions with you!

Skill level:  All, beginners welcome

Leads: Suzanne Hyde & Melissa Hulbert
