Knowledge Night is a welcoming forum designed to keep members informed, connected, and engaged with both the Society and the wider genealogical community. Held every two months throughout 2026, it brings together key strands of the Society’s work and is intended to become a familiar and valued fixture in the SAG calendar. Knowledge Night is free for members and is open exclusively to members and affiliates.

Each session combines four elements:

• News from SAG, ensuring members remain informed about strategy, programs, collections and opportunities
• News from the world of genealogy, highlighting developments in records, archives, technology, research and publishing
• A short feature conversation with a guest around the question “Which ancestor would you most like to meet, and why?”  designed to humanise research and prompt reflection on why family history matters 
• A further guest showcase, providing a platform for officers, authors, educators, projects or services relevant to family historians, while also strengthening SAG’s external relationships
