The Highlands of Scotland are frequently associated with a romantic image of Scotland – with tartan, the Jacobite Risings, the Battle of Culloden and the Highland Clearances. These subjects are also closely linked with the Highland diaspora – the many people overseas who have, or who feel, a close connection with this part of the world. Join Lorna to hear stories from the Highland Archive Service collections and discover more about these subjects which did, and do, shape the Scottish Highlands in both expected and unexpected ways.
